Although there has always been a considerable amount of partisan politics, in our American system, perhaps, never before have we witnessed the degree of polarization and division, as we are today. Many feel, our Founding Fathers, envisioned a nation, where public officials, even when they disagreed, tried to work together for the common good! For little more than a decade (or even longer), the politics of DIVISION, to have, to become, in behavior something normal, etc. Currently, we are witnessing the current occupant of the White House seemingly prospering, making empty promises and using rhetoric / vitriol, which seems to inspire and motivate his core supporters and followers, rather than seeking to unify, and bring others together by a greater good! With that in mind, this article will briefly attempt to consider, examine and review, using the mnemonic approach, what this means and represents, and why it is important.
1. Destructive; divide; decreases: When President Trump often resorts to poking fun at people, insulting and making statements, some consider racial / ethnic stereotypes, doesn’t that diminish the status of his office and empower those who seem to be more motivated? for their fears, hatreds and prejudices, that the relevant and sustainable needs of our citizens, the nation and the planet? Their statements and actions often seem more destructive than those they resolve, and we seem to be experiencing a nation more divided than at any time in recent memory.
2. Integrity: Especially in times of crisis, or near crisis, such as during the pandemic that we are currently experiencing, an effective leader must demonstrate that he is worthy of listening, believing and following, because he maintains the degree of absolute integrity, we need and hope! When, political fact-checkers, state, Trump has lied and made mistakes, at a level never seen before, why would others believe him now?
3. Vision; visions; value; values: Great leaders are motivated by a vital and vibrant vision for their administration! Your visions must consistently provide genuine value, conforming to the values of our nation, as a whole!
Four. Inspiring; irritating; innovative; imagination: We need civil servants, who are inspiring, rather than irritating, and who proceed, in innovative ways, based on possessing the necessary, necessary and necessary imagination, to make our nation the best that it can be!
5. Service; sustainable; strength / stronger; solutions: Shouldn’t quality service come first? The true inner strength of a leader must make society stronger and better! Realistic, quality and sustainable solutions, differentiate a true leader from the rest of the group!
6. Impulses; invasive: Donald Trump famously says that he prefers less structure to his speeches and statements, and follows his impulses, often stating that he is a steady genius, who follows his intestine! When his rhetoric and vitriol inspire and empower those of his main supporters, who seem motivated by their fear, anger and hatred, this invasive behavior creates a clear and present danger to the American way of life.
7. Options; opportunities: A great leader must avoid prejudging and carefully consider and evaluate all viable options and alternatives, with an open mind! Only then will this nation be in a position to recognize and effectively seize the best opportunities!
8. Needs: Divisive leaders often consider their personal preferences, personal / political agenda, and / or self-interest when they must focus on the needs of the nation and its citizens.
Wake up, America, and demand leaders who are ready, willing, and able to come together, for the common good, rather than using the politics of DIVISION! Are you ready to do it sooner rather than later?
