What can be better than spending an evening around the table with your family? For me, not much! I love Family Game Night, which doesn’t happen as often as I’d like, but my family tries to schedule at least one a month. It’s valuable time to bond, reconnect amid our hectic schedules, as well as lots of laughs and FUN!
Here is a list of fifteen family games that you will want to include in your Family Game Night.
1. SORRY. Have fun chasing each other across the board, trying to get “home”. And there is no need to feel sorry for sending someone back to start. That’s the name of the game! Recommended for ages 6 and up.
2. ARE YOU SMARTER THAN A 5TH GRADE STUDENT? AHA! The perfect way to show your kids that you ARE just as smart as they are. You will love answering those questions well and they will love it when you make a mistake. Recommended for older than 8 years old.
3. MONOPOLY. The world’s most popular board game sometimes also happens to be the longest in the world. But this classic game is fun, entertaining, and educational. Are you tired of the original version? Try the SpongeBob, Speed Die or Disney version! Recommended for older than 8 years old.
4. THE WHOONU OF CRANIUM. This game doesn’t actually come with a board, but it’s one of my family’s favorites. Played with cards and chips, it gives family members a chance to see how well they know each other. Plus, each round only takes a few minutes, making it a nice respite after an endless game of Monopoly. Recommended for older than 8 years old.
5. TRACK. Okay mystery lovers, this one is for you! See if you can find out who, where and how in this crime solver’s dream game. Also available as a DVD set and Junior Edition. Recommended for older than 8 years old.
6. From A to Z. This fast-paced word game was named the best word game of the year in 1997 by Games magazine. Race against the clock and against your opponents as you come up with as many words as you can for the shortlisted categories. Recommended for older than 8 years old.
7. SEQUENCE. The ultimate board game and card game combined. Play with the cards in your hand to make sequences on the board. Super addictive and a lot of fun. Recommended for ages 7 and up.
8. YOU HAVE TO BE JOKING! Would you rather cross the back of a hungry alligator or under an angry elephant? These are the types of questions you will have to answer in the children’s version of the game Would you rather prefer it from Zobmondo? This is a totally ridiculous game that will make you think and make you laugh. Recommended for ages 7 and up.
9. THE GAME OF LIFE. Take a test drive for the road of your life. Earn money, get married and have kids along the way! Different versions are also available, such as SpongeBob and Pirates of the Caribbean. Recommended for ages 9 and up.
10. HIT THE PARENTS. Take on parents with children in this challenging trivia game. Who knows more about the generation of others? Recommended for older than 8 years old.
FUN is something every household can use more of and hopefully this list of games will help add some fun to your family. But no matter what games you end up playing, the important thing is that you spend time together. When you do, everyone wins!
