A story about the amazing Grace Jones and her healing process from colon cancer and reiki during surgery

While sitting around the table with my sister at what I was told was a health fair in mid-September, we met a truly amazing woman. As it turned out, this was clearly not a health fair and Grace Jones was the only person who stopped and talked to my sister and me that day. One might think it was just a dumb coincidence, but I don’t believe in coincidences. In my heart, I know that we were meant to meet that day, and I am so thankful that we did.

Grace stopped by to comment that she loved my black shirt with purple butterflies…sharing with me that purple is also her favorite color. As she looked at the things she was selling on my table, she asked a few questions about Reiki and the crystal healing bags she had created. This quickly turned into what seemed like a conversation with an old friend, and she shared with me her story that she had been diagnosed with colon cancer and surgery was scheduled for the end of the month. This is a story that Grace had decided not to even share with her family. I was honored that she felt comfortable enough to share her story with me. Talking to Grace, I quickly felt her soul, listening to the incredible amount of positivity that came over me as I talked about her life as I talked to her.

Thinking back to the cancer diagnosis that came my way in my life, I am reminded of the wide variety of emotions that flooded me on a daily basis, none of which were positive or remotely healthy for me. But the woman in front of me exuded strength, positivity, love, and lots of light. Simply from the way she spoke and the passion for life in her voice, she might never have known what she was going through if she hadn’t told me. She could feel the brightest light in her soul. Even as she talked about her diagnosis, she knew without a doubt that she would find the rainbow at the end of it all, and she would come out an even stronger and brighter Grace than before. What a truly amazing woman, and I feel blessed to now call her my friend.

A few days after meeting Grace, she called me about Medical Reiki and asked me about all the healing benefits of Reiki before, during and after surgery. Grace asked me to apply Reiki to her during her surgery and I was honored to be a part of this beautiful woman’s healing process. I immediately sent a post to all my Certified Reiki Practitioner Sisters to be with us on the day of the surgery Grace in spirit with healing and thoughts of love and light. Due to short notice, I would not be able to physically be in the operating room with her, but we planned a two-hour Reiki session during her surgery, and I administered a Reiki drip for the next few hours after surgery so she could hopefully be out of recovery quickly to find himself in his balloon-filled hospital room resting and beginning to heal. Prior to her surgery, Grace arranged for herself a room that would look and feel like a celebration was taking place while she was there. This is how Grace lived her life and she shined through it all. Even after her surgery, she wanted to be able to see fun things of light and happiness around her as she recovered in her hospital room.

Grace had given her daughter my phone number so we could communicate after her surgery and was so happy to hear all the updates on her miraculous milestones after each day had passed. After a few days, Grace would email me herself with wonderful updates on how she was feeling and how she had fully returned to her true and happy self. Three weeks later, Grace and I met for brunch and boy, did she look absolutely stunning. Once again, with so much light in her heart, she would never have guessed what had happened because this beautiful woman was radiant. And this to me says a lot about her person. I learned that day, that she, like most of us, has a history with some less than wonderful things that she has endured in her life. Sitting across from me was this amazing Grace, who through her own trials and tribulations in her life, did not allow any of that darkness to penetrate the light of her mind, body and soul. In fact, to celebrate her life in the coming weeks, she had planned an incredible trip to London with her daughter. What an amazing soul she is…truly an inspiration to me!

Grace, I thank you for allowing me to be a part and share the story of your healing journey after your cancer diagnosis and surgery. It is my hope that everyone, including myself, realizes the many blessings of life all around us and continues to see that we all have obstacles in the path of life. It’s really how you handle those bumps that makes all the difference in our lives. From what little I’ve learned about Grace, I know that she sees sunlight all the time, even through the rain. This my dears is really living life and what life is all about. If we all learned to do this, the world would certainly be a brighter place. Grace, to me, you are and always will be Amazing Grace, and I feel blessed to know you. hugs and kisses

This is the summary post of the healing time period that I sent to all my sister Certified Medical Reiki Masters who sent their love and light to everyone involved in Grace’s surgery:

Thank you for all the thoughts sent to us while doing remote Reiki for a truly inspiring and positive woman who had undergone colon cancer surgery. She wanted to share a wonderful summary of miraculous healing. After Surgery I received reports from her daughter that her surgery was successful. On the 3rd, Grace emailed me while she was in the hospital saying that she was fine and in great spirits. On day 4, Grace reached all milestones and would be discharged the next day. She reports that she is doing very well and to the surprise of all the doctors at her healing progress. On day 6, she reports no pain from the surgery, just back pain from the horrible hospital bed. On the 10th, Grace is well enough to go to the beach to heal in her happy place and reports that she is getting stronger every day. On the 12th she met with her doctor to receive the news that the surgery revealed stage 2 colon cancer. It was all removed and it had not spread, so no radiation or chemotherapy was needed. She reports that she is healing very well and feeling great! Her body is functioning back to normal and her appetite is good! I feel truly blessed to receive such fabulous news and to have been able to support her on this healing journey. I wanted to thank everyone for her healing thoughts and support, as well as bring you some absolutely amazing healing news.

Please share this story with anyone you know so they can help or just could use an inspirational message in their lives.
