Cookware – What’s new in cookware?

Like most other industries, the cookware industry is constantly introducing new lines and innovations. Some of the new lines are only available in gourmet or specialty stores and are sure to be expensive.

Regalware has new cast iron cookware with a double-fired ceramic exterior. It’s available in Royale Blue or Brick Red. Unlike older cast iron cookware, this new ceramic exterior will work on any cooking surface, including glass cooktops. I had to give up my old-fashioned black cast iron skillets when I bought my new stove because I didn’t realize how badly they could scratch the surface. The ceramic coating keeps its good looks for years. The interior of the cookware has a nonstick surface that makes cleanup easy. It also has special handles that give you a secure grip on the cookware and stay cool to the touch.

Chinese food continues to be popular and Clad Metalcrafters is offering two new open stock stir fry pans. The skillet features a triple-layer stainless steel and aluminum disc that is permanently bonded for fast, even heat distribution. This is especially important when cooking beef, chicken, or pork.

Mirro has introduced a new set made from aluminum and stainless steel, featuring durable, easy-grip plastic handles that handle with ease. The eight-piece set with a nonstick interior sells for less than $40 at many retailers.

Another innovative product is Bradshaw International’s new line of flexible shape bakeware. It is more expensive than regular bakeware, but more and more people are learning about the advantages of silicone bakeware. The cost is slowly coming down as they develop a special line to sell in supermarkets and mega discount stores. The line is called Flexform and will include:

1 9″ round cake pan

2 6-cup muffin pans

3 12-cup mini muffin pan

4 8″ x 4″ loaf pans

5 8″ square cake pan

6 11×17″ baking sheets

Wilton Baking Accessories Company has introduced an elegant food serving centerpiece that can be used for special occasions and holidays. The name of the new device is Cupcakes ‘N More and it can be used to display cupcakes, petit fours, tarts and brownies. It is attractively crafted with a durable silver metal finish that is non-chip and non-toxic. Coiled wires keep food in place.
