COULD THIS 18+ RATED GAME OF BLACK OPS COVERT WAR AND VIOLENCE BE BAD FOR YOU?
Seriously, do we really need more violence in our lives?
With violence on our televisions and also on the streets in places around the world and in just about every other Hollywood movie, do we really need to subject ourselves to more war and violence in our own homes and online with a game that blatantly promotes killing and blow things up… in fact, the more kills you get, the better.
Is this really good for our teens (oops…sorry girls, I know some of you guys play games, but when you look at the stats, 85% of them are male oriented) to go up against each other online night after night? night? Seeing who can be the most elite ninja-style combat assassin in the cyberspace war zone?
Well here’s the twist…
I know you probably think I’m against this game and to be honest with you a few years ago I probably was… but the truth is I have 2 teenage boys who love this game and play it all the time and plus. if he didn’t sneakily make them do other things from time to time, like go to school!
So what can I tell you about my experience here? Well I have to say that I am now of the opinion that I would rather my teenage boys play this Call of Duty game in the comfort and safety of home than play out their teenage male hormonal urges on the streets like so many others of theirs! older and younger yes!
I admit I have to control the language and angry taunts in the game itself and some opponents, but other than that they seem very happy and when they’re not playing my guys are actually very laid back, relaxed, well balanced and passive. the school runs well and they are always friendly and helpful… not really the violent maniacs with angry egos you might think when playing a game like that.
So what is all the fuss about this Call of Duty Black Ops game?
Well I must admit it’s something else…and you might laugh but I’m serious…it has amazing graphics, some great gameplay options and actually it’s a very smart game and quite challenging no matter your age. is and is supposed to be packed to the brim with awesome features and effects…one apparently is “motion capture technology” like the one used in the movie Avatar that captures the expressions on the faces of the characters of the video… wow!
So there you have it, an honest and objective opinion from a normal kid and dad who in his own teens enjoyed the same style of games, although I think we were shooting with tree branches and hiding in bushes instead of playing online. .makes me sound old, but there you are!
