Precautions to take if you are having an ear lift

Ear stretching is in fashion all over the world. While it’s all the rage, if you’re planning on having one, consider taking a few precautions to prevent damage to your earlobe. Ear stretching is a centuries-old tradition observed among many ethnic groups in India, East Asia, and other ancient civilizations in Egypt and South America. It is a symbol of status, beauty, or both, depending on what a culture believes. However, today many in the West have embraced ear stretching as a fad. They stretch out their earlobes to flaunt body jewelry. It is also a way for some to create a different identity for themselves. In the United States, the younger generation associates stretching their ears with lifestyle choice and punk fashion. However, if you are planning an ear lift job, it is advisable to see the following precautions:

gradually stretch

If you have a size 20 or 18 ear piercing and want to stretch it up to a 00 ear gauge, don’t pierce a larger hole, but do so gradually. Drilling a hole can remove a lot of tissue, making it difficult to resize later. Gradual stretching provides ample healing time, which prevents scarring and restores flexibility to the earlobe.

Wear stainless steel earmuffs and earplugs for a simple and almost painless stretch. You can also use ear tunnels instead of earplugs. These are almost similar, but hollow in the center.

observe hygiene

Prepare the earlobe for the stretch. Apply vitamin E or jojoba oil. Before beginning the reduction process, apply the warm water compress to the area. Disinfect earplugs before use and lubricate with a water-based solution. Once the cone is through the hole, replace it with the plug or tunnel. Upon completion of the process for both ears, soak the earlobes in a water-based sea salt solution for five minutes each. Cleanse and massage daily for faster healing. From time to time rest your ears by letting them free. Let your ear heal completely, before moving on to the next round of stretching.

precautions

Do not use acrylic candles as body temperature can easily break it down and release toxins. Do not use wooden or bone dowels as they need to be more careful. Do not use petroleum jelly to lubricate the cone, as petroleum jelly can trap bacteria and cause infection.

Consult a Professional

Always consult a piercing professional before beginning the stretching process. During the stretching process, if at any time you feel uncomfortable or develop an infection, see a professional immediately for help and medical advice.
