Today, online dating is more popular than ever. But do you really know all the different variations out there? Here’s a fun A to Z Guide reflecting modern trends in 2013. There are many different ways of ‘Dating’ on the web. How many do you recognize?

HAS – app – Usually mobile based on Android or i-phone. App means application and this form uses GPS technology to facilitate matchmaking between singles.

GRAM-homosexual – Self-explanatory term for dating with transgender/transsexual niche included.

H- Herpes – Yes, it exists and it is very common. Crikey. It refers to people who have recovered and want to date a partner who has been through a similar experience.

ME- In person – refers to real-life face-to-face encounters between single people after an agreement has been made to meet after or during online dating communication. Yes, like the old fashioned way! (Note: Security considerations are a major issue, so be careful.)

J- Jewish – Dating between singles of the Jewish faith. Shalom.

K- Curly – An adult based theme for single people who may have a sexual fetish or sexual tastes beyond the norm. Take off those boots.

L- based on location -wearing gps technology (Global Positioning System) these dates allow singles to base their dating encounters on the location of their potential partners and ‘connection’.

METER- Ripe – refers to a dating niche for singles over forty and is similar to Senior Dating.

NO – NSA – It represents No strings attached – and is similar to Friends with Benefits. This type of dating refers to casual sexual encounters that may or may not lead to an ongoing arrangement between consenting partners, but do not necessarily lead to friendships or a long-term relationship.

EITHER- online dating that uses modern technology to facilitate encounters between people who may or may not be single. Application-based or website-based.

w- Proof – An online based dating idea that mixes Fast dates with a pub quiz style format. Put your cell phones away please.

R- Religious – A dating niche trying to unite singles of a shared faith.

S- Speed -I like it dating quiz this is event based, but is currently mostly organized online. The idea has been around long before online dating took off in a big way.

T- Tinder – year ios dating app which allows people within a 50-mile radius to meet through Facebook networks.

your- Uniform- a very popular niche driven form of dating where professional people who wear uniforms for a living, such as firefighters or sexy traffic wardens, who then meet up for a hot date.

V- Virtual – Combine online dating with online games. It involves the use of avatars for people to interact in a virtual place like a virtual cafe. Take the blue pill.

W- white label dating– Dating platform for many online dating sites. Your success depends on partnerships with primarily branded sites.

X- XXX Dating – Adult dating of a plus. extreme nature. Not for the faint of heart. It usually consists of pornographic images for online marketing.

Y- Youtube was originally an online dating idea, did you know that? Now streaming online dating videos and a mix of general tips, commercials, tips from professional dating coaches, and of course, funny skits.

Z- Zoosk – refers to online dating site.
