Starcraft 2 – Zerg Hydralisk Rush

First of all, here’s a great Starcraft 2 strategy that I use often and that I offer for free here. It does involve some skill, but if you’re new to the game, you should be able to catch up. This particular strategy is relevant for taking on other zerg, terran, or protoss opponents. You should also know that it will take an average player twelve to fifteen minutes to complete this specific zerg hydralisk race. He is exceptionally powerful in matches involving more than two people.

Stage 1: Let’s start with a build order. I’ll just tell you what to build roughly and when, but you can have variations for your own zerg hydralisk fever. I like to build an overlord at nine and continue drones until you have thirteen unit positions. Then build a spawn pool with the fourteenth drone and a Vespene geyser with the next drone. Then put three drones on the vespene. Make sure you have enough overlords there so you can build more units.

Stage 2: You need a queen shortly after the first Vespene Geyser is populated. Protect yourself with some zerglings in a hurry. Once the queen is done, you should have enough vespene and minerals for a lair. Build this quickly and while it’s transforming you can expand it to a new location with a hatchery or just build a hatchery very close to the den. Keep making sure the queen is populating her bases with larvae. One queen per kennel / den is perfect. While the lair is forming, also make sure you have the other vespene geyser populated.

Stage 3: Right after the lair is finished, remove a drone from the minerals and create a hydralisk lair. Make sure the larvae are ready to be spawned. You have to be quick here to beat the opponent. Send a Overseer to scout the opponent as you upgrade your Hydralisk’s ridged spines. While upgrading, start spawning as many Hydralisks as possible by the end of the Zerg Hydralisk Rush.

Stage 4: Group the Hydralisks in one area and make sure you have twenty or more. You can upgrade his attack through an evolution chamber or just save those resources for more hydralisks. Once you think you have enough for a decent attack, send them off like a wave, but control the buildings and units they kill to be more effective. Keep spawning more larvae with the queen in case she fails and needs more hydralisks. Overtaking the opponent shouldn’t be a problem if you stay focused.

I hope this strategy will bring you success on the battlefield!
